Beautiful Scars

Our love began with an impromptu rendition of Mavin Gaye's song
It seemed immoral at first but we nursed each other back to strong
Sexual healing it was but i feel it was more than that
Our hearts were bruised and bleeding, fresh from combat
We were beaten down and broken by a love so rapacious
Changed by the world, we were so bitter and pugnacious.

Nevertheless, I appreciate the journey thus far
This change in circumstances will be duly noted in my memoir
We saved each other and our story sure has a beautiful ending
I'm glad we escaped the jaws of a love so condescending
We are a picture of perfection and our hearts are aligned like stars
A thing of beauty, naked while we caress our beautiful scars.
