हसरतों की ज़मीं में हिज़ की बेताबियाँ हैं, न उफ़ निकले,
न आह निकले, यह ज़रूरतों की परेशानियाँ हैं।

मकतब-ए-मोहब्बत में गिरिफ़तार ख्वाहिशें हैं,
खैर! तारीख गवाह है बेइंसाफ़ फ़िराक की।।

रूमानी सा तसव्वुर सही, काईदा-ए-कयामत है,
हर मंजर यहाँ इक, गर्दिश का टूटा ज़मानत है।

उसे आना था एक दफा, जाने के लिए,
फिर वह लम्हा क्यों ठहरा, याद आने के लिए।

इल्म रखे हर तिश्नगी की मंजिल इश्क़ नहीं है,
गुमगश्ता काईनात में, ताल्लुक-ए गुजारा भी है।।

In the land of desires, restlessness abounds,
No sigh escapes, no cries resound,
These are the troubles of necessities, found.

In the manuscript of love, desires are ensnared,
Well! Dates bear witness to the unfairness of separation's tale.

A romantic vision indeed, it's the decree of fate,
Every scene here is one, a broken promise of destiny's gate.

He was meant to come once, for the sake of departure,
Then why did that moment linger, for the sake of remembrance?

Knowledge holds, not every yearning leads to love's shore,
Lost in the universe's wanderings, there's also the passage of survival.
