I was never a speck of dust
To be swept aside
Able to realize my dreams
With determination and hard work.
You once told me to never accept less than my worth,
Life is full of lessons learned through mistakes
Given many opportunities,
If only to open the door and proceed forward.
You once told me to lead not follow,
And that your partner, friends, family
To walk beside them with love and support
You once told me that I am the captain of my fate
To this day, your voice is heard in my heart
