The Coward's Harvest
Mission failure
Oxygen depleted
Greeted by a pitch-black sky
This is the end
A wound opening up
How long to sew it shut
A lifetime
There’s no replacement for the loss
Time takes a toll
As friend after friend
Family after family
Falls to the reaper
The gatekeeper
The harvest continues on
Without strong men to lead
Mission failure
No oxygen to breathe
I believe, help my unbelief
I believe, help my unbelief
Grant relief to these depleted bones
Build a foundation where survivors go
We sing the coward’s anthem
We don’t take up the plow
Unless something stirs the cold and frozen heart
Bring to life the valley of dry bones within my soul
Comfort is a bold killer
That has led most of us to the slaughter
It’s a machine that keeps on feeding
Never satisfied
The harvest is ready, the workers distracted
Its the time for action
Our mission will fail
All this oxygen left to waste
When words spoken might tread the path to save
It’s only for the brave and the willing
To plant seed
Family after family
Friend after friend
Falls to the reaper
Again and again
Distraction, self, and comfort
Killers of spreading seed
The message will die in the shadow of an idol built
We sing the coward’s anthem
We don’t take up the plow
We sow the line somewhere between failure and fraud
Smash our idols
And turn our eyes to the plow
The blade of the sickle is sharp
But it stays collecting dust
Mission failure
No oxygen left
A pitch black sky erupts as a warning
You never know if you’ll see the next morning
