In reality it was the memories for me
the moments i caught you staring at
my eyes, or the times you smiled while
listening to my silly stories.
it was the memories, the little details
implanted in my brain forever.
you've changed a great lot, you've
forgotten about the memories we've
made, the look in your eyes makes it
clear. you've moved on, started planting
new memories with another human being.
she's pretty, the type of pretty that makes
one stare. genuine happiness for you leaks
from my heart, you deserve it, you really do.
just the way i thought i deserved you too.
but that's the bitter truth, the ugly facts
hidden somewhere in the dark waiting to
rip one open with the truth.
we're no longer friends, and we'll never
be enemies but we're back at being
strangers. to you nothing ever happened.
to me it was one of those dreams i never
wanted to wake up from.
