Age Catches Up
I am inner fluid
flowing like you did
down the river quickly,
crimson and scarlet, free,
warm blood pumps inside
coursing still far and wide
throughout a flaccid wreck.
I'm tiniest spatter or speck
that escapes to say you died
staining cloth on the outside
washed away by evening tide.
Like leafs in Autumn fraying
I feel your body is decaying,
webs of arteries and veins
are slowing up like trains
running all out of steam.
Slowly coagulating they
will cease with your heart
and by the end of the day
like coral reefs ebb away
unable to ever restart.
Such is the onset of time
it ravages inwardly in line
with the death of all things,
a natural order, chaos sings
as birds on the tree of life,
there is beauty even in age
red velvet cake inside skin
hiding telltale signs within.
Dark fissures of a volcano
spots that will ever grow
drowned in bile, disease
age got you, squeeze.
Nothing left to give.
