What is guided reading? Explained and my favorite tools to use for it

Guided reading simply means using a tool or resource to guide your eyes through the sentence. It helps with fluency, keeping a steady rhythm as if you were having a conversation, and remembering the last line you were on. There’s nothing worse than reading the same paragraph all over again just to find the scene you left off on.

Popsicle or ice cream sticks. You can put any kind of sticker or gem on the end. Star shapes are popular for magic reading wands. Or, you can draw or color on them. Adding a smiley face or eyes can be a fun way to read along with you. It motivates you more if you have another pair of eyes reading along. These are fun because the possibilities are endless!
