we plowed a field together
and sowed down all the seeds
we read each label careful
to meet all of their needs.
when springtime came around
we plucked out all the weeds
summer & fall we marveled at
the bounty we both received.
but now that it is winter
crops have begun to recede.
with the soil left bare
it is all too clear to see
there is no harvest left
no where left to be
