I am second best.

I am second best in everything and anything.
Second best in school, games, matches.
First place always teasing my finger nail tips,
But,
I never thought I would be second best to you.

I knew after you stomped on my heart,
for the first time,
leaving it to cry for you ,
that you wanted her.
You looked at her the way,
you were suppose to look at me.
You never stopped even when you had me.
I was naive and stupid .
I was second best.

Even when I had you,
letting you sink your claws of love
into me.
You never stopped wanting her.
When you thought you could have her,
you took her.
Your shiny new trophy.
Discarding the old,
dented, used on.
Your second place trophy.

I've grown up.
I'm learning again that I don't need you.
I don't want you.
I'm done being second place.
Yet still,
my heart crys when,
she wears the necklace you made her
that you never made me.
She is yours.
You are hers.
and I belong to no one.

I am after all second best.
