Childhood Home

That courtyard where I once danced with tinkling anklets,
Now stands silent, as if a song has fallen asleep,
The dollhouse, built with bricks of my dreams,
Still rests in the corner, but it has slipped from my sight.

The loving shade of my mother, the sweet aroma of the kitchen,
Father’s shoulders, where I felt taller than the world,
Everything is still here, yet why does my heart feel heavy?
