Pollution Procession
We run even the mightiest rivers dry
By our hands, ecosystems die;
Entire species simply erased
Endangered, exploited, or displaced.
We generously contribute to death and decay,
In shallow pursuits that cost us every day;
We live the labefaction of the Earth
From the breath of life to the embrace of dirt.
So…
Do enjoy the walks on plastic beaches
And the befoulment of Earth's sacred reaches;
And cling to your indifference still;
For there is so much left to kill.
Now…
Let us feast on polystyrene fishes,
And write apocalyptic wishes
In vanishing wilderness and open pits;
As we choke on pollution – as it befits.
