Grief and Loss
#TranscendingGrief
In life, we all will bear witness to pain,
To loss and sorrow that shall remain,
For grief is an experience we all will share,
A weight upon our hearts that's hard to bear.
At first, it feels like the world's caved in,
And nothing is left to believe in,
Our hearts ache with a pain so deep,
We can't imagine ever being able to sleep.
We feel as though our world has ended,
And we're left with nothing to be mended,
Our minds spiral with the what-ifs and whys,
As we question the purpose of goodbyes.
But in this darkness, a light does shine,
For grief is not just pain, but a way to refine,
It forces us to confront our own mortality,
And see life through a different reality.
We see the fragility of life more clearly,
And how precious each moment is, dearly,
For loss reminds us to cherish what we hold,
To live fully and love boldly, uncontrolled.
Grief can transform us in ways we can't predict,
As we learn to navigate and to make sense of it,
We discover a strength we didn't know we had,
As we rise from the ashes, no longer sad.
For grief can teach us to be more compassionate,
To extend a hand to others in a way that's adequate,
It can build a community of love and support,
That can sustain us in ways that can't be bought.
Through grief, we learn to empathize with others,
And to see the world through a different lens, another's,
We become more aware of the pain in those around,
And strive to be a light in their darkness found.
So though grief is hard, and loss is pain,
It can transform us and make us whole again,
For in the midst of sorrow, we find hope anew,
And learn that love and life can still ring true.
