I've got a darkness
There's a monster inside of me
It's one big illusion
It controls everything I see

I've never been in prison
never been charged for my crimes
but something has a hold over me
I've been chained to my darkness for quite some time

If I don't feed the darkness
then it might just drive me mad
so I go out looking for trouble
to satisfy this darkness that I have

I put wood on the flames
to keep this fire burning hot
because I may hate this that follows
but in truth, this darkness is all that I've got

I'd walk a thousand miles
through a scorching desert land
Crawl on my hands and knees
torch my body in the sand
These bones can't cage this beast
but they're doing the best they can

I know I have to go on living
with this darkness flooding my brain
But it's starting to burn through my head
It's getting a lot harder to tame

I'm sharing a house with the devil
but I'm paying full rent
The walls are closing in
my money is almost spent

The darkness has taken bites
and my body is almost consumed
I need to gain control
before this darkness can resume
