Monsters within
A monster under my bed,
a snake creeps up my skin,
is it all in my head?
My duvet feels so thin.
I pull the covers up
to hide away my fears.
The real monsters are in my head,
or maybe in the books I read.
Get out of this imaginary world
and step into reality,
but as soon as I enter the human realm,
I want to be hurled,
hurled back to the nightmares
that seem so far away,
from my current reality
of being miserable every single day.
