I am not a damsel in distress,
Or a night in shining armor,
Don't call me a hero or villain,
When my life is such a mess...

It was never meant to be,
I was never meant to fight the storm,
Reign on high, or watch the valleys down below,
That's just never been me...

I would watch the world around me,
Helpless to escape the sands of Time,
Never stepping into the light,
Only absorbing everything I could see.

It was never meant to be,
I was never meant to speak aloud,
I'm only one among the crowd,
That's just always been me...

Here I stand without a sound,
Watching as all my days go by,
Always listening, always hoping,
That my written words can still be found!

It was never meant to be,
I was never meant to break the silence,
I give my words for thoughts, unspoken,
And that's just who I was always meant to be...
