Pity Party
In the dark corners of my
mind,
I host a pity party
A gathering of all my fears and doubts,
where sadness is the only guest of honor.
I wallow in self pity,
drowning in my own tears,
as I replay my mistakes
and scrutinize my flaws
I invite all my insecurities
to join me at the table,
and we feast in self doubt
until we are sick to our stomachs.
But as night wears on,
I realize the futility
of this never ending party
for self pity offers no solace,
no comfort, no peace.
So I bid farewell to my guests,
and chose to leave the darkness behind,
embracing the light of a new day,
where self compassion leads the day.
