Velvet Prison
Snake-like
And a charmer
She wore the tattoo
A seductress
An all-natural fizgig
One gaze
Into those blue-green eyes
And fireworks
Mesmerised and entrapped
A Delilah
She who is weakened
A philistine uncultured
And crass
Entrapped weakened
She enervated me
My Achilles heel
Was I her Samson
She betrayed me
Yet I loved the whore in her
Despite the body-count
She was the one
What kind of alchemy is this
What makes me so vulnerable
Over free with my affections
Love on demand
Overflowing
I know no other way
Is my Mother to blame
Inverse insecurities
I believed
Everyone was faultless
Perfect meat for a narcissist
She was a Venus flytrap
And I fell right in
Hoping I could save her
By accepting all that she was
It was easy
I only saw her heart
It was screaming at me
Hear me hold me
Her mind in denial
An emotional battlefield
One I was Ill-prepared for
No armoury
No weaponry
No defence plan
Like pouring Love
Into a Death Star
With no Rebel Alliance
As backup
A disaster waiting to happen
A war I’m never winning
She was my
Velvet prison
