I get up early to venture out,
On an island boat excursion,
Little did I know my plans would be,
Filled with mental exertion.
I venture to the beach early,
And sit upon the pier,
I look out towards the horizon,
And wait for my boat to appear.
A minute passes, then some more,
Yet there's still no boat in sight,
I triple check my ticket,
Wondering if I got the date right.
But all signs point to accuracy,
At least, it appears, on my part,
They'd scheduled me for the wrong day,
And for that reason, my trip didn't start.
As a way of apology,
They invited me on another trip,
It would be to a different destination,
On a slightly smaller ship.
As my plans had fallen through,
I decided to accept,
Although I was feeling disappointed,
And that the company were inept.
While waiting I met a family,
Whilst standing in the queue,
One took a phone call suddenly,
He told me it was from the crew.
Apparently they rang to inform him,
That the trip couldn't go ahead,
But no one else seemed to receive a call,
So we wondered if he'd been mislead.
I couldn't help but laugh it off,
I didn't believe it was true.
Right then, a ship approached the pier,
So with that, we rejoined the queue.
But when the ship had finally moored,
A crew member confirmed the news,
Not only had they messed up my first trip,
They'd now cancelled my back up cruise!
They cancelled due to sea conditions,
The weather conditions too cut throat,
But what made the announcement funnier,
Is that they came to deliver the news by boat!
They offered for me to try again,
If it was to depart tomorrow,
But I'm only away for a few more days,
And there's no extra time to borrow!
