A Dog's Plea
The atmosphere was a cacophony of noise and heat,
As I sat on all fours in this cage,
In the company of five mates,
I wondered how i erred
We were all pets
Loving local pets with masters,
My master, though caring and kind
Gave me no reason to have forseen this.

The whimpering of my mates,
The realization that I couldn't move around,
Jolted me back to reality
I was no longer a pet,
But a caged prey,
Hunger gnawed on my stomach walls,
Reminding me of my last good meal of garri.

As the sun smiled crazily at us,
The whimpering of my mates subsided,
We battled with thirst, fear and hunger
