The Silent Contacts
Sometimes I open those chats
Just to reminisce
The days when messages flooded by the moment
I look up those contacts
Who would ring me up,
Atleast ones a day
I look at them as they lay
Now cold and empty
The phone rings from time to time
But those numbers pop up no more
Chats read ‘6 months ago’ lie still
Memories then open the door
Convos which never seemed to end,
And who promised never to
The laughs shared together
The despair even more
Those inside jokes and salty nicknames
Which never seemed to bore.
Conversations went on for hours
Through calls and through text
And every night we said bye
And hoped for the day next.
Countless days and countless byes
But which became the last?
In silence they lie
only carrying the dust
I re read those chats and
Reminisce those days;
we had hoped would go
on forever
Memories, like a sweet wine,
Sweetening our minds with the nectars of the past,
And yet, knowing that the sweetness,
is only of the past
It leaves a sour taste
The person is there
So is the phone
Messages are instantenous
Calls a touch away
Yet my thought won’t reach you
For the bond that was is lost
sunken deep beneath.
For even our bonds of friendship
I prided to be stronger to fate
Has been swept away
By the waves of the mighty time.
So, So I reminisce and cherish
These chats and calls
And That’s all I can do
Yet I hope I may find
If the future be so kind
That lost bond I had with you.
