The Middle Passage
Oh! The horrific voyage,
That painful passage,
Through the Atlantic,
To America and Caribbean

Women naked,
Children wailing,
Men in chains,
Separated from their homeland

A few survived,
That horrible journey,
In ships they were stacked,
Like a cargo on voyage

Forced labour in farms,
Cash crops for firearms,
Humanity commodified,
Human rights defied

Rise of diaspora,
Restoration of blacks,
New culture and traditions,
In a new land

They have risen to glory,
In football and athletics,
They are dominating the land,
Where their ancestors suffered

Oh Caribbeans,
In those beautiful islands,
Grabbers of our highlands,
Are the reason why you are there

Black is beautiful,
Black is rising,
Black is shining,
Black will soon rule

*Does it matter, I ask
myself, that centuries before European Christians sailed down to us in ships to deliver the Gospel and save us from darkness, other European Christians, also sailing in ships, delivered us to the transatlantic slave trade and unleashed
darkness in our world*
