Dancing with Dawn and Dusk 🌇
He came when the sun went down,
In dreamy indigo and vibrant violets.
The earth cooled as dusk settled in,
And the brisk air embraced my skin.
If a star was a person, that's who he'd be.
Burning so brightly among the blanket of darkness.
Instead of butterflies, I felt fireflies
When he cupped my chin in his hand.
And he kissed like a midnight breeze.
But eventually, the sun must come up,
And there is she.
Blazing orange and bleeding red
In the light of dawn,
Turning the dewy grass into a field of diamonds.
The world blossoms at her touch
And with every step, warmth runs into the ground.
Her smile is the brightest ray that greets my face
And as she rises, I hold my breath,
Until she can be seen and felt by every entity.
Dawn, dusk,
Moon, sun.
Why must I choose only one?
If I want to experience the songs of birds,
Why must I give up the howls of the night?
If I want to smell the sweetness of Sunday flowers,
Why am I forbidden from touching the stars.
When they hear I cannot choose,
And want to dance with dawn and dusk,
they will cast judgmental glares
and cut me with their whispers.
But I do not care.
I only live for my happiness, not theirs.
One day I will have to choose.
It is inevitable and one will hurt.
But for now,
I choose to love the blazing sunrays
And the cool luminance of the moon,
Simply because I am in love with both.
And they love me.
