Song of Ours
#WritcoPoemPrompt109

It's unspeakable
this thrill
brooding in my head
blood rushing to
trembling fingers
barely withheld
my bated breath
sprung into avid hooting
out of the flute's eye
an outroar
an eruption

Meeting gaze
with a tense nod
he slammed his eyes close
with a familiar high note
enter
the ramming of his heart
on the keyboard
into soft ruffling feathers
with my soaring winds
pain into sheer lightness
to the call of the pipe
we smirked

Faster! Faster! Faster!
a chase between the two
striking high waves!
clashing bright lights!
shooting out of flaming foams
flocks, riding storms
from falling floodgates
racing to
dry deserts with pent-up pace
sprinting over black and white
colours falling behind

Sweat and grime on our face
resounding in our chest
light laughter and rhyme
what fun it was!
drunken in the flood
blurring sight in the harsh sun
our duet chimes through
the pauses and hushes of night
red streaks on the horizon
to the dew-laden morning
two weaving into one

Our eyes met again
they widened
we put down our hands
why is that
melodies
memories overflow?
the fleeting flute
the piano's purring
billowing against
windows of soul?
and lush grass against nostrils -

Carried by the southern gusts
the scent of summer
some songs in all hearts
hath existence:
such song has been ours
