Food for thought
Food for thought
Today in our time
Hungry children
Waiting in line.

The cost of living
You cannot afford
The basic things
No longer assured.

Food banks spring
Like flowers in May
Where queues stand
Under clouds of grey.

No money, no shame
In there endeavour
For a single meal
They await together.

A national disgrace
In two thousand and two
Where the rich prosper
In what they do.

The wealth of life
Must never be
For the chosen few
Of that I see

A hungry child
Holds a hand
Of a saddened mother
That cannot understand.
