something that helps
to keep me going every day
is knowing that we all live
under the same sky

it’s kind of grounding, you know?

it reminds you that we’re all just human,
that every one of us looks up
to see the same sky

gay or straight, rich or poor,
happy or sad,
we’re all different people
with different personalities
and different lifestyles
and different looks and beliefs

yet, we’re all the same

we look up at that same sky
every day and night,
and maybe someone out there
is just like me, thinking of this too

maybe i’m not alone in this world
