War Torn Souls
If you would ask me to leave,
I couldn't.
If you believed I'd choose suffering over losing you.
I wouldn't.
If you think you can turn me away.
You shouldn't.

The ash under our feet may still be alight.
Our swords might be broken but they're still sharp.
Our souls might be shattered but they're still tied.

Doom never leaves.
Death never goes away.
and destruction is inevitable.
We can watch it or we can be it.
One of those options being less painful than the other.
What we choose can lead us astray,
what we choose can stretch us apart.
But it's what we are willing to do to get our way.

Time is so fleeting, we haven't the control to barricade it.
Nor do we have the gift of grasping it.
None of us have the skills to navigate it.
We just are caught in its current, told to make the best of it.
There is always going to be an end to things, but never a last ending.
We are too simple minded, we can't grasp the concept and full believe it, so it's more of a small hope than a certainty truth we can place our trust in.

We can meet the strangest of people and see their vision of what they imagine inside their head, only to question their heart and what direction it's really taking.
Their ignorant intent can be tinted but perhaps their beliefs are enough to save them.
You find yourself wondering if you're capable of such thoughts. Thoughts of places we've never touched on because the fear is so relevant.
That fear being so raw.

There is a time to use your curiosity but also a time to rest it.
The storms in your head are real and the rapids are as deadly as the ones you cannot swim in.
So why believe the current in your head to be any less dangerous?
A mind can be tough but it also has its weaknesses.
Stamina could lack or your soundness louder than normal.
It isn't hard for a monster to be stronger than you.
It's not impossible to have one larger than you to find you.
and it's undoubtedly a reality that you'll lose more battles than to win...
