Girl met boy,
emotions flew high,
they were meant to be together,
spend along the rest of their lives.

Their parents met and judged,
several demands poured in,
the two who were to marry,
were still enjoying the spring.

As the wedding approached
clouds gathered dark,
they found challenges everywhere,
but held onto their spark.

They began their lives together,
but they were different souls,
the girl realised soon,
she was in it forever, but alone.

It started with the barbs,
wrapped in a smile,
the girl kept silent throughout,
she didn't want to hurt her partner for life.

She fought harder to prove her love
everytime she was shunned,
but her new family never acknowledged,
her affection was never returned.

She kept at it, refused to give up,
she loved the boy with all she had,
she poured in more warmth along with hope,
but his family connived myriad.

The love in her heart stung hard,
it ached more often than before,
oblivious to the plots against her,
she didn't see when her pain roared.

Her feelings were crushed,
her emotions brutally mocked at,
she now knew she was a sole soldier,
she had to fight with all she had.

Unrequited is funny word,
it makes you imagine a girl and a boy,
but love surpasses relations and genders,
though some people take your heart for a toy.

The girl was broken many times,
her pure feelings now turned foul,
but when not returned, she found out
she had enough love within, to heal her soul.
