Reunited
It's been 66 years since I last saw you
with all your hair intact.
Your splendid complexion now wrinkled
it's sad but that's a fact.

Do you remember 25 June 1950,
when our country was invaded?
Do you remember all our friends
and the life you simply traded?

Do you remember that fated day,
the day that you were taken?
The day the soldiers separated us
and I thought they were mistaken.

My hopes were crushed when you didn't return
not even after the war.
I though that I had lost you
and you gone forevermore.

But my love for you was still alive,
I believed that yours was too.
It's because I knew that someday,
we would both come through.

Today I see you standing there,
I couldn't believe my eyes.
You looked so different from the Mother I knew
who was kind and sang me lullabies.

The day you disappeared from my life,
I was just eleven.
Now that we're back together,
you're ninety eight and I'm seventy seven.

Now that we're growing old
and time is running out,
I'm thankful that I could come to North Korea
and visit the person I can't live without.

Eomma, I can only see you for a day,
but I know you're still delighted.
For now, let's enjoy the time we have,
because we're finally reunited.

-During 1950, families were divided by the great war between South and North Korea.
-In the recent years, there have been meetings organised to bring these people back together.

I know it's quite lengthy, I'm so sorry 😶
But if you've made it this far, then I hope you like it.
