The captive's song
In the swirling sea of stars
Butterflies float across the sky
Hungry, haunted by desire
a predator sights its prey
The shark sneaks to sate its tastebuds
the butterfly swims away
away from me
gripping the needle I spin thread
weaving the fabric of a web
a trap brilliantly laid
For the unsuspecting prey
with footfalls as light as feather
sneaky is my craftsmanship
and tiptoeing I deliver the last and hardest note
as the butterflies wings becomes entrapped within my fingertips
will I ever fly again?
it sings
