first light ( dec. 2022)
you acted like you had suddenly came to that decision that one night
like it wasn’t something that had been on your mind
you sat with it, let it make a home in you
while you lied to me
about to take my home away from me
you looked into my concerned and loving eyes
and told me you no longer loved me
you didn’t try to cradle my heart gently
you ripped it out, blood dripping
while I screamed my lungs out, wretchedly
you ripped everything from me that I thought I had known, my home
like humans tearing down the forests
the newborn fawn having no home
fear has made itself at home in its bones
you became everything I’ve known to no one in one night
how do you live with yourself and call this your life?
you had no right
I hope this makes you toss and turn at night
never sleeping until first light
You can keep telling yourself lies to make yourself feel better
but I know the true you, and you’re no winner
you’re a coward who breaks others down
when you really just hate yourself
your pride is sitting on an empty shelf
you’ll be alone
just like you wanted
just know you didn’t have to be haunted
but I will be there in the corner every night
haunting your dreams and asking you why
do you think you deserve redemption?
do you think you deserve peace?
you will never get anything from me.
