Even to this day
I stop to smell the flowers
I set the tone for my day
Sun shining free of showers
I take my own risks hour after hour
Day after day
this way vs that way
His way vs my way
I cannot fail, but if I do, I pray
To grow from it, a better man
I take it as a lesson learned
Mistakes made are forgiven, never forgotten
What you take from it is earned
I don't beat myself up
I just keep GoiN
I just let the words keep FLowiN
Piecing them together
as inspiration keeps GroWiN
It's like poetry in MotioN
Writing is my therapy
Like a miracle inna potion
It keeps me thinking and RhymiN
Words set free with theme & notion
Ideas breaking free without any commotion
I feel em in my soul
And speak them with intention
I pray every day
it's my devotion
For God must know how thankful I am
As I well up with emotions
And things start to MooVe in slow motion
Reminds me of when I was a child
swimming in the ocean
And I would get in trouble
going beyond the lifeguards cautions
Sometimes I'd have to sink
to the bottom
Letting sharks go by
as if it were nothing
Things you learn GrowiN up in the tropics
As Waves crashed on top of you
Time seemed to stop
As I held my breath, watching
Heart Pounding, Mind Tripping, Soul FlippiN
Yet calm as a kitten
RipTides pulling you out and under
To panic is a death sentence, unwritten
I've had life pass before my eyes
I've had many life lessons
There have been times
I've had to make some very hard decisions
Without any hesitations
This is how I've achieved self preservation
All thanks to the man upstairs
For extending me so many
of lifes invitations
I'm thankful and blessed
By my own keen observation
So I stop and smell the flowers
I take time to appreciate God's creations
And Did I forget to mention
In my life and personal situation
It's the little things that mean so much
So always pay attention
This feels like a life's confession
Why not, I'm blessed beyond mention
And that is without question
