Black Swan
A constant companion who follows me around
In a cool breeze or a sad song
An inevitable presence that coexists
My twin sister, who truly loves me
She lives in my space, inevitably shared
She speaks in slow whispers, making her presence aware
Attached at the soul and at the brain
She plays with me, a wicked gleam in her eyes
Her world made of ice and snow
The glow of warmth intolerable
Her friends drawn from imagination
The thought of people unfathomable
She runs her fingers across my skin
Giggling as goosebumps rise
She places a kiss on my forehead
Laughing as I shudder
My company her eternal craving
A woman of her own mind
She takes away everything I love
And asks me to continue to smile
My world trembles and cracks arise
As she throws a tantrum
I try my best to keep her calm
Her tiny form shivers
Shallow breaths and tears streaming down her face
As I take her into my arms
A warm tint reappears on her face
As I drain myself to keep her warm
Her big eyes begin to sparkle with joy
As she sees me enter her world
My twin, loneliness, had her wishes answered
As my anxiety spiral whirls
Then and there, the tables turned
I seek solace in her now
She strokes my head and pats my arm
As I cry my heart out
Between stifled sobs and weary eyes
I fall asleep in her arms
My only constant through it all
I gave in to her charm.
