In twilight's hush, where silence sighs, though you've departed,
Heavy thoughts weigh down, I cannot lie,
Too many words unsaid, your smile I yearn,
To say it doesn't hurt, would be a painful, futile turn.

I couldn't bid you stay, couldn't whisper "I need you,"
I watched you leave, though my heart tore in two.
Your words were harsh, they cut like knives,
Leaving scars, breaking trust, shattered lives.

Did you ever love me, or was it just a game?
A fleeting touch, a passing flame?
You moved on, found happiness anew,
While I linger here, still hoping for a glimpse of you.

I release you now, though you linger in my soul,
Never truly gone, still playing a role.
I let you fly, yet I hold you close,
In my heart's deepest, tenderest throes.
