Life's Dance
In the beginning, shiny pink satin
beauty and charm to be praised
But the shoe must break and bend and flatten
For the dancer to be lowered and raised

The flank must be peirced and the fabric must rip
for the beautiful ribbons to stay
The silk must burn at each measured tip
So the beautiful ribbons won't fray

Still, the shoe will get dirty with each pirouette,
It will break with each waltz and each prance
Its life isn't long and the dancer moves on yet
The shoe was created to dance
