I must have fallen from a great height
a million years ago because I often dream
about falling from a cliff or a tree

(although I never hit the ground)

and when I see someone in a movie
leaping rooftops or hanging from a fire-
escape well, then I have to close my eyes

(and hope the bloody fool don't fall)

I don't worry about burning to death or stepping in front of a car or drowning in a kiddie-pool or a fuckin' glass of water

(ok, ok, I don't want to burn)

I read once that the reason people have falling-dreams is because when man was
still living in trees, an ape fell off a branch

(but lived to remember and that
smelly little ape was me)
