Prince of Deceit & Flattery.
Too many times I've tried
To tell you how I feel,
But the silence always
Comes between us
And I'm filled with fear.

Then the shadows appear
And hover over me silently
Like morbid portents of doom.
They cover me like ashes
from a distant fire.

I feel so cold & enraged!
You laugh at my discomfort,
Like I had this all planned
Just for your solitary amusement!

Think again, before you walk away!
Tomorrow may not ever arrive.
Then what will you do?
To whom will you cry out
your sorrow?

Mercy is what I've always
shown you.
Compassion is what I offered --
As a gift, without asking.
Needing nothing of my own . . .

Your smile was enough
To gladden my troubled heart.
Then . . . Not anymore!
Now I believe you're uncaring,
As well as a blight on my soul!

I think I shall leave now,
While the darkness hides me.
I don't want my fragile soul
Exposed to your indifference!

I would say, "Bye, my love,"
Knowing I'd see you tomorrow;
However, I've got better things
planned,
And believe me . . .
They. Don't. Include. You!

Finally, Prince Charming
isn't' around
To carry me off on his horse,
Then dump me in a mud puddle
In the middle of the street. . . .
While pretending it was just
an "accident"!

Well, Prince of Deceit & Flattery,
You've had your amusement;
Now it's my turn to play.
However, the stake's are higher
than before!

So -- watch out & beware,
Because the next time
there's an accident . . .
I won't be the intended victim.
Guess who will be? Sucker!
