God's heard me cry, He's seen my tears
He's lifted me up on high
He was there when I kissed your cheek
By my side when I told you goodbye!

The Lord watches over me day and night
He's seen the harsh pain that I once felt
It's gotten better for me right now
I'm going to get through without a doubt!

At times it's felt like God was absent
But I know now that He was here
Holding me in His arms all night
Showing me His love and care

Sometimes the loneliness crept up on me
Just wanting someone to hear my plea
So alone, the worst it's been
Because you leaving just really broke me!

I've learned so much since you've been gone
I've pushed harder than I thought I could
I've humbled myself and showed compassion
it just felt right and I understood

I understand that many haven't felt this pain
And I wouldn't wish it on anyone
I pass them by and they'll never know
That I've lost my only son!

I try to feel the hurt that many are feeling
I just want to take their pain away
Looking into their eyes so sad
I hope the misery inside doesn't stay!
