Angel on my shoulder
By my side, and in my heart
Always to be there
From me, I know
They’ll never part
To offer gentle nudges,
Sound assistance and guidance
Often using subtle ways
To give a sense of reliance
But I am not their only charge
For love is measureless
And there are many others who
Have earned their tenderness
Love does not divide into parts
Where some are more or less
But rather flows out
From the whole
Spiritual largesse
To all the other charges
I acknowledge them as well
For our angel loves profoundly
With a love unparalleled
We know we’re in the best of care
Beyond our parting days
Until we meet up, once again
Having left our yesterdays
