BLACK IS KING
Black is king, that's a fact,
Our visions and dreams, we impact.
The race with the most sorrowful past,
Trying to make our dreams come true and last.
The times flew really fast,
Memories of how we were once outcasts.
A blemish on society's flawless skin,
Our wrongs considered the greatest sin.
Being who we were was a crime,
Girls were taken in their prime.
Boys were laborers, beaten in chains,
All they knew and could feel was pain.
Mothers cried out their frustrations in vain,
Before the eyes of children, fathers were slain.
All in an attempt to stop the power,
To make us weak and easy to devour.
Working our backs off day after day,
Savoring the little things, like watching the children play.
For us who believed in something, we kept the faith,
Faith that one day, all of it would fade.
The heroes of our times in despair,
They fought for our freedom and strived to repair,
Our broken foundation torn down with no hope,
They knew that one day, it would all be different.
"I have a dream" in the words of Martin Luther King,
Those words till now we sing,
For the equality between whites and blacks he fought,
He fought until his dream came forth.
What a nation would we be,
What would have happened to you and me?
The heroes of our time paved this way,
Taking all of our sorrows away.
Now we are a rising star,
We shine so bright, they notice us from afar.
God blessed us with countless gifts,
Gifts that would make us known and to others uplift.
You are the men that make this nation great,
You are the women that make this nation stand.
Black is not just the color, its the mind,
Its the unity, one that binds,
Its us against the world, its the chance,
Its the willingness to show the world at a glance,
We are the black race and the black nation,
We have stood and fought from generation to generation,
We have fallen and risen in every situation,
We have proven ourselves stronger no matter the condemnation,
We are God's divine creation,
Within us, there is no limitation,
We will rise over every restriction,
We will conquer, it doesn't matter where we come from.
