Toy soldiers in a column in a box
with antique rifles and banners,
storm the cityscape of painted blocks
to quell our childlike clamor.

At last the cast is complete;
military merriment on the pinewood street.

Toy soldiers in a phalanx on the floor
annex the dollhouse and plastic trains.
Come desolation and the seasons of war
as firestorm streams from model planes.

In time the past shall repeat;
military madrigal on the blanket street.
