There’s something you don’t know
About yourself,
It’s this: no matter how you much grow up
Along the lines of people who try to make you
Aware of your self-worth and all.
No matter how much you are
In terms of confidence and pride,
The moment you place your image,
Your idea of your own self-worth
In another person’s hands,
Save how close they are to you at that moment in time,
They are temperamental still
Temperamental, so temperamental,
You will feel your mind
Is playing tricks on you.
This cannot be, you will keep whispering to yourself
As they tear away at the precious values
you held yourself to,
Thinking they would nurture those as much you would yourself,
Because after all, they loved you more than you loved yourself right?
No.
They are temperamental.
And you?
More temporary to them than they will ever let you know.
