St Leonards on Sea
St Leonards on Sea is where you'll find me, where the land meets the sky and the beach meets the sea.
We tread the coastal walks and often visit the Glen, and dream of the ghosts of the smuggling men.
Over the east hill in the summers heat we carry our bags looking down at our feet.
We make our way down the east hill stair admiring the benches placed here and placed there.
Past fisherman's huts and along the grand parade we stop and watch as mini golf is played.
My daughter turns and says to me, dad can we have fish and chips for our tea?
We sit and watch the world go by and throw chips at the seagulls in the sky.
Again we get back on our feet and and continue to weave through George Street.
The final stretch now and what's that we can hear a band is playing on Hastings pier.
Finally we reach our destination a little flat near St Leonards Station.
It may not be a royal Palace but it is home to me and my daughter Alice.
