I'm not a lying politician
or a comic telling a funny joke
I'm not a magician or illusionist
I am just that rhyming bloke.

Sometimes I find rhyming quite easy
I see things that often inspire me
words can be like weapons sometimes
and it can set my imagination free.

Words can sometimes be emotional
affecting every single girl and boy
reciting certain words can be magical
remember poetry isn't a type of toy.

Words can be misunderstood sometimes
so always try to explain what you mean
for a wrong word can lead to conflict
I won't describe the damage I've seen.

Words can bring joy and happiness
also heartache, pain and dread
speaking emotionally from the heart
can bring peace to the living and dead.

I always try to find the right words
but sometimes it's a real test
hopefully my words will live forever
as I'm finally laid down to rest.

Words can make me feel intelligent
but I use simple words when I can
I used to be that rhyming bloke
but now I'm the poetry man.
