Evil among us.
So here I am watching the glorious sun go down,
My mind at crossroads and utterly confused.
Drinking a few cold beers and I begin to frown,
Thinking why does my soul feel so fucking bruised.

I tried calling a couple of my friends this afternoon
But the phone dials out before answering machine.
So I look at my furbabies, one a prince , one a buffoon
Yet their unconditional love ekes higher than caffeine.

I know my place in this world is yet to be determined
For I know my contribution to society is not finished.
My working life upended but the future is uncertained
With my destiny unknown and thoughts diminished.

My problems are very minimal in world weighted by bricks
With so much going on in the world and here in Australia.
Lives lost to illness, innocent lives taken by evil fucking pricks
Never to feel grown up, never to smell the scent of an azalea.

The world is balanced naturally by our seasons throughout,
The North in their winter mode blanketed with snowstorm.
Here in the land down under after many seasons of drought
The land being quenched by rainfall, a lot more than the norm.

Yet nature’s balance isn’t shared by the population of the world,
And even within our own body and mind, battles raging amok.
Nations against nations fighting to see who’s flag be unfurled,
People against people, cruelty and evil among the living stock.

I can understand the hardship of humans through nature
And those having to look after ones born with special needs.
However I can’t fathom people who are a nasty creature,
Hurting or killing our children, like the unwelcome weeds.

So while I momentarily am among the world’s whiners
I'm blessed that I’ve managed with life’s lessons so far taught.
However those who perpetrate evil, especially against our minors
Should have no privilege if and when they are gratefully caught.
