Empty Nesters
My child, my son, my daughter dear,
You left us here, year after year.
Though miles may lie between our lives,
In my heart, your spirit thrives.
I held you close from your first breath,
And now in life, and soon in death,
I carry you, my only gene,
In memories both bright and keen.
The laughter fades, the years grow cold,
But in my heart, I still behold
The little one who clutched my hand,
Who learned to walk, who learned to stand.
My son, my child, though far apart,
I hold you close within my heart.
You’ve left, but still, your spirit stays,
A love that lasts through all my days.
For every step that you will roam,
My blessing follows, calling home.
In life, in loss, no force can sever,
Dear I'm with you, now and forever.
