A gentle creature she was
In a Silent Valley National Park forest
A harmless creature she was
Just like all of the rest.

 

But there were beasts in the village
Near the forest, whom she did not know about,
Those beasts offered her a pineapple to eat
With the best of intentions, no doubt.

 

She came forward with joy, at the sight of food
And she felt her foetus slowly stir.
She lifted the pineapple with her trunk
And put it inside her mouth.

 
And oh then it happened!
The bomb went off inside her mouth!

 

She rushed to Valliyar river
To relieve the unbearable pain,
But the inevitable soon happened
And she laid still
Injured,smoking at the mouth, wane.

 

For the beasts,
selfish bestials had placed
A bomb in the pineapple
Which had killed her for trusting them,
and her unborn baby too.

A human can scream and protest
But how do you give justice to the ones

To the poor elephant who
Did not deserve to die in such a cruel way
I hope you’re born, in your next life
In another planet, where there are no humans, to slay.
