When You Embrace Another
You must know, everyone knows in their minds that we only live once and then we die: like the grass dies, like the birds die, like the leaves die.

So it is the most difficult thing to hold another person, to fearlessly lay your heart beside their heart, to close your eyes and listen as they breath.

When you embrace another you risk everything in the bargain: The hidden dagger, the hidden glance; The grapple, the garrot, the dark, whispered lie.

We are such that we throw ourselves at the universe as it were our enemy, we kick against the world because it frightens us, we err and then we die.

Yet there is a light that burns against the moon and vexes the eye, a bright promise conceived in the thoughts of a star and forged in fire as pure as rain

Existence crushes some and forgets the others, father, sister, sons and brothers, all are born in blood and pain, once dead, to never, ever live again.

But it grants treasures to the intrepid soul who sees through the tears the singular way,
who sees beauty and a path from which we are powerless to stray.

Hold me in the passing of the light so that our deaths will be different than our dying and when the door swings wide, enter in, for we must leave, we cannot stay.

Of course you know, everyone knows or thinks they do: The sum of all error is to know yet act as if we never knew, the soul of truth is that I risked it all and won

when I held you.
