#WritcoPoemPrompt42
Write a poem focusing on a single memory, or describe what you might imagine the typical grandmother’s kitchen to be like.

"That wouldn't even make much of a meal"
the thought had been absurd
the thought of eating a hummingbird
he has laughed and agreed
but he knew just what they need
to try and get enough to test
if they weren't worth cleaning
just like the rest

he never liked eating a bird
but to her that was absurd
growing up in the depression
something was just a lesson
a bag and a net
and let us not forget
likely a jar in which they could sleep

see, try not to think it too deep
after all people ate cows and sheep
but in less than a flash and more of a dash
they were back in the kitchen making the fixin's
for cathead biscuits
retrieving the mix from by The Triscuits
they both loved with the honey spread
no need to make live things dead
and then they can get home with their stories

above the shelf with the plates that had ducks
he had no way to know the looks
he'd be giving those dishes after she was gone
some days it takes so little just to go on

a little pitcher for creme
how many days was the theme
that kept his bonsai from being thirsty
and above all the worst he could say
was he still hadn't eaten a hummingbird to that day
