I don’t know how it happened
Or even when
Because it came so slowly I didn’t even notice
And one day I noticed there were no more calls
No more “guess what” texts
She’s gotten her hair done 3 times now and never told me
I guess it’s ok, and I don’t expect everything all the time
But the letters we wrote as kids with the words “forever” I keep etched in my mind
Now when I see her posts on social media
Her face seems distant and foreign
And yeah I guess I am a little jealous
Who wouldn’t be
Who would want to watch their best friend grow up from the other side of a screen
