That which we desire
That lits our core like a fire
yearning and craving
seeking and searching
unable to fill
unending thirst unable to satisfy
a cycle of want and lack
like a load behind our back
we are crushed by this
a burden we need not bear
Deafened by a symphony of needs
of wants and thoughts stirred up by our primal desires
Are we ignorant of our shortcomings
or do we find this apple too alluring to pass up
are we slave to our base desires or do we find liberation in no longer caging the beast within
